Giving and Receiving Feedback
1. The RACS-approved method of giving feedback interview
1.1. Back
RACS teaches the Pendleton method of giving feedback. This involves finding a private location and doing the following:
- Explain what the session involves
- Ask the receiver how they think they are doing well and why
- Provide positive feedback about their strengths
- Ask the receiver what they think they could improve on
- Provide your feedback on what they could improve on. Use specific examples and avoid blame.
2. How should you receive feedback as a trainee interview
2.1. Back
We should be keen to receive feedback and seek it during training. It should be received with an open mind. Acknowledge that negative feedback can trigger an emotional response, but it is necessary to consider the feedback and how it can help you improve.
